Buckhead Atlanta Hires New Team for 2014 Openings

OliverMcMillan has six key team members in place in Atlanta as the opening of the first stores at Buckhead Atlanta draws near.
“We are gearing up for the first restaurants and retail stores to open with our experienced team in Atlanta,” said Jeff Zeigler, senior managing director of retail services for OliverMcMillan. “This is a great milestone for us, as it signals the evolution of the Buckhead Village.”

Michael Diamantides brings his more than 33 years of real estate experience to the table as the general manager of Buckhead Atlanta. Over his career, the long-time Atlanta resident has set up property management divisions for three different companies and held senior-level management positions for companies that include Jamestown Properties, The Peterson Companies and, most recently, his own management consulting company, Diamantides & Associates. His career has also included a stint serving as a vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle in Atlanta. He was in charge of repositioning the Atlantic Station mixed-use project to better match the needs of the surrounding neighborhoods.
Rocell R. Viniard is the regional marketing director overseeing both Buckhead Atlanta and OliverMcMillan’s River Oaks District in Houston. She has more than 22 years of experience in retail real estate, spending the last 10 at mixed-use properties that include National Harbor in Washington, D.C.; Jordan Creek Town Center in Des Moines, Iowa; Mall of Millenia in Orlando; and Carolina Place Mall in Pineville, N.C. In 2000, she created a monthly breast cancer awareness campaign for the American Cancer Society and later created a program for local children’s charities titled “Little Houses, Big Dreams”. She will be moving to Atlanta from Washington, D.C. with her husband, Mark, and her two sons.
Mary Kathryn Wells is Buckhead Atlanta’s director of marketing. She has more than 10 years of sales and marketing experience, including five years as the director of marketing for Destin Commons in Destin, Fla. Most recently, the Atlanta native and Brenau Women’s College alumna served as director of marketing for Town Square Las Vegas, a 2.5 million-square-foot shopping center located on the Las Vegas Strip. During her tenure, Town Square Las Vegas partnered with more than 52 local charities to raise more than $2.5 million at on-property fundraisers. Wells’ charitable involvement extends to her personal life, where she has served on the board of directors for the Nevada Ballet Theatre, the Ronald McDonald House, and the American Cancer Society.
Annanias Rose rounds out the marketing team as Buckhead Atlanta’s marketing and events specialist. He comes to Buckhead Atlanta after spending the past seven years at OliverMcMillan’s San Diego headquarters, where he gained experience in many facets of the business, assisting with event planning, marketing and property management. Over the course of his tenure with OliverMcMillan, Rose has assisted with managing properties in Illinois and Texas in addition to his time at the firm’s San Diego headquarters. He looks forward to incorporating his passion for the arts and fine dining into his work at Buckhead Atlanta and in the community.
Billy Rowland is serving as the operations director of Buckhead Atlanta. The Atlanta native comes to the team with almost 25 years of operations experience. While serving as the director of operations at South DeKalb Mall, he helped increase sales from $175 to $325 per square foot. He most recently served as the director of operations for O’Leary Partners at Underground Atlanta, where he was responsible for implementing an energy savings plan that lowered the owner’s energy bills by 25 percent and resulted in $25,000 in energy rebates for the owner. He has also overseen operations at St. Joseph’s Hospital Professional Buildings and 1 Concourse Parkway, both in Atlanta.
Tamala Ballard is Buckhead Atlanta’s property coordinator. She has more than seven years of luxury retail, marketing and special projects experience. Ballard most recently served with Atlanta-based New South Construction Company, where she supported company executives on special projects for almost six years. In her new role, Ballard acts as the liaison between Buckhead Atlanta’s commercial tenants and property managers. In her free time, she is a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America and has volunteered at several organizations such as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Lighthouse Family Retreat and Atlanta Tool Bank.
Buckhead Atlanta’s strategic marketing team also includes Laspata Decaro, a New York City-based luxury retail marketing agency; Jackson Spalding, a full-service marketing and communications firm based in Atlanta; infinitee, a full service advertising agency based in Atlanta; and McCulloch + Company, an advertising media services company based in metro Atlanta.
Buckhead Atlanta’s first retailers and restaurants will open their doors this fall. Openings will continue throughout 2014, as more retail and restaurant tenants debut, Spanx opens its new headquarters and tenants move in to the luxury high-rise residences. By early 2015, Buckhead will total approximately 1.5 million square feet, which includes 300,000 square feet of upscale retail stores, restaurants and cafes; more than 100,000 square feet of office space; and 370 luxury high-rise residences.
