Luxury women’s fashion boutique Intermix is looking to open a new store at Buckhead Atlanta.
Plans were filed Aug. 20 in Atlanta for a new location of Intermix at the 8-acre, mixed-use project in the Buckhead Village.
The build-out for the store could cost more than $300,000, according to the permit.
Intermix already has a boutique in Buckhead at luxury mall Phipps Plaza, less than two miles from Buckhead Atlanta.
But, as pressures mount from rising e-commerce sales, some mall retailers are scouting street-level locations to boost their brands and revenues.
Buckhead Atlanta, a mix of boutiques and cafes that line cobblestone streets, is set to open its first stores and restaurants on Sept. 18. (Read more about those first tenants and how the project has taken shape).
Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) acquired Intermix in late 2012 and has since ramped up its new store openings. Gap recently named e-commerce expert, Jyothi Rao, as president and general manager for Intermix.
Intermix offers a mix of luxury brands. The retailer doesn’t produce its own clothes but instead has relationships with designers such as Stella McCartney, Helmut Lang, Valentino, Diane von Furstenberg, and Rag & Bone.
Intermix today has 40 boutiques open in the United States and Canada.
