Buckhead Atlanta Lands Luxury Fashion Boutique Intermix; Tall Trees Lifted in Place Aug. 23
August 22, 2014
Luxury women’s fashion boutique Intermix reportedly filed plans Aug. 20 for a new Buckhead location on Bolling Way at the 8-acre, mixed-use OliverMcMillan Buckhead Atlanta development, according to a report by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
It is unclear from the ABC story as to whether Intermix will retain or close its existing store at Phipps Plaza, but the build-out for the new store could cost more than $300,000, according to the building permit.
According to Rocell Viniard, regional marketing director for OliverMcMillan, Intermix’s store will be located in the plaza area of Buckhead Atlanta on the east side of Bolling Way between the store locations for Etro and Theory and across the street from Le Bilboquet restaurant.
In other Buclkhead Atlanta news, Viniard told BuckheadView.com on Friday that the four tall trees were to be planted over the weekend, and they were lifted in place by a tall crane throughout the day on Saturday, Aug. 23. The four trees were planted in the plaza area at the four corners of Le Bilboquet restaurant. To view a video of the first tall tree being lifted off of the truck on Friday afternoon, click here.
Intermix, which does not produce its own clothes, offers a mix of luxury brands through relationships with designers such as Stella McCartney, Helmut Lang, Valentino, Diane von Furstenberg and Rag & Bone. Intermix today has 40 boutiques in the U.S. and Canada.
Gap Inc. acquired Intermix in late 2012 and has since increased its new store openings. Gap recently named e-commerce expert Jyothi Rao as president and general manager for Intermix, according to the ABC article.
With the building permit just being issued by the city of Atlanta, it is almost certain Intermix will not be among the very first retail stores opening at Buckhead Atlanta, beginning around Sept. 18.
