Check Out the Menu for Gypsy Kitchen, Opening October 14 in Buckhead
September 24, 2014
Scheduled to open October 14 for dinner and October 20 for lunch, Gypsy Kitchen will focus on Spanish-inspired shared plates created by executive chef Randy Lewis. Located in Buckhead Atlanta, at 3035 Peachtree Road, Gypsy Kitchen will be the first of two restaurants by John Piemonte and Chris Hadermann (Tin Lizzy’s, the Big Ketch, and Milton’s) in the immediate area. The second, a gastropub called Southern Gentleman, is expected to open in mid-November.
Gypsy Kitchen will be decorated in Baroque style with tile and wood. It will have a large patio, too. Expect Old World wines and foreign beers, along with domestic craft beers with herbal qualities. Cocktails will play off indigenous Spanish ingredients, including smoked paprika, cloves, and saffron-infused gin made in-house. Offerings include the Spice Trader (made with bourbon, honey, cayenne, apry, lime, and ginger beer), and the Evil Eye (saffron gin, espelette, paprika, strega, and blanc vermouth).
The menu at Gypsy Kitchen focuses on Old World traditions, and is divided into different sized items ranging from snacks (picas) to large plates (platos a la planxa), all designed for sharing. Highlights include marcona almond “nutella” with shaved chorizo on toast, carrot and orange salad with orange flower water vinaigrette, squid a la plancha with romesco sauce, and barrel-cut beef tenderloin with Catalan wilted kale.
