Fado Irish Pub Hosts Month-Long World Cup Party

June 05, 2014

Atlanta’s headquarters for the 2014 World Cup, beginning June 12

Parking changes in place due to construction

ATLANTA (June 5, 2014) – Fadó in Buckhead Atlanta, the premier destination for soccer fans since 1996, is once again anticipating a capacity crowd for the World Cup 2014. The authentic Irish pub plans to host the every-four-year FIFA World Cup viewing extravaganza beginning June 12, 2014.

There will be one change for fans this year: where to park and how to access the pub. Due to Buckhead Atlanta construction, traffic on Buckhead Avenue at Peachtree Road is temporarily restricted through June 25. However, Buckhead Avenue is still open at North Fulton. Fadó patrons will find it easiest to access Fadó by going east Pharr Road to North Fulton and then north to Buckhead Avenue. Valet parking is still available, as normal, at Fadó.

Fadó has long been the location of choice for Atlanta's World Cup viewing, and this summer the city's top soccer bar will celebrate by broadcasting all 64 games live on multiple HDTVs. In addition, Fadó will be offering a special game day menu and with Heineken, plans to host a launch party on June 12 to commemorate the opening game between Brazil and Croatia at 4 p.m. Giveaways, drink specials and raffles will be part of the festivities throughout the tournament, including a chance for fans to win $1 million in the Fado Bracket Challenge. And, this Saturday, June 7, Fadó, an official US Soccer bar, is hosting a viewing party in conjunction with the final match of the "World Cup Send-Off Series" for the U.S. Men's National Team.

OliverMcMillan is proud to list Fadó among the tenants confirmed for the destination. Fadó has been an anchor tenant since the beginning of the block-by-block redevelopment of the Buckhead Village. The original Fadó in Atlanta opened in January 1996 at the corner of Peachtree Road and Buckhead Avenue and was the first pub in the country that featured furnishings manufactured in Ireland and shipped to the United States. Within three months of opening, it was Guinness’ top-selling pub in North America.

The original Fadó closed in 2007 to make way for what is now Buckhead Atlanta. The new three-level venue, located just down the street from the original location, was built in Dublin by the Irish Pub Company and was shipped to Atlanta for the pub’s re-opening in early 2008. Much of the previous restaurant is still recognizable in the updated location along with new features like the hand milled bar, the “Grand House” area with oversized fireplace, the mezzanine’s Celtic art and the rooftop patio complete with stone walls and large murals.
